Discovery orders bizarre bodies series for intn’l nets

Discovery’s international division has ordered a six-part series about people living with bizarre medical conditions from Zig Zag and Barcroft Productions.

The 6x60mins show, Body Bizarre, was greeenlit by Discovery Networks International’s creative director, Julian Bellamy. It will air on Discovery channels around the world in the second quarter.

Cases covered in the series include a footless football player in Brazil and the world’s oldest mother in Romania. The producers say the stories will be enriched by personal interviews as well as CGI footage and scientific factoids.

Danny Fenton, CEO of Zig Zag Productions said: “Body Bizarre is a unique show. Created in a magazine style format it features several sensitively handled medical anomaly stories per hour from all around the world.”
