US syndication deal for BBC cop show DCI Banks

BBC Worldwide has sold DCI Banks into US syndication with a deal that will see the British cop series on 166 public TV stations, reaching 77% of US TV homes.

The deal covers two seasons of the show and its pilot and it will start airing in the local stations throughout the US this month.

Julius Cain, vice president, PBS Sales, BBC Worldwide America, said the syndication deal was the largest ever  between BBC Worldwide America and US public television stations.

DCI Banks is produced by BBC Worldwide-backed Left Bank Pictures for UK commercial broadcaster ITV.

The series stars Stephen Tompkinson (Wild at Heart) in the title role and is based on Peter Robinson’s Inspector Alan Banks novels.
