BBC One orders 183 episodes of Pointless
British public broadcaster BBC One has renewed gameshow Pointless for 183 new episodes after striking a deal with Endemol-owned Remarkable Television.
The deal includes three series for BBC Daytime and one series for its Saturday night spin-off Pointless Celebrities. The show originally launched on BBC Two in 2009 before switching to BBC One in 2011. It sees contestants attempting to win cash prizes by finding the least obvious answer to a question.
The format has also been sold into France, Germany and Switzerland by Endemol.
Remarkable Television managing director David Flynn said: “This commission for 183 brand new episodes of Pointless reinforces the show’s position as a firm favourite in the BBC’s schedules. Pointless is a fantastically unique game show, packed with warm and witty humour with irresistible game play at its heart. I’m looking forward to Alexander and Richard bringing a host of new pointless facts to the nation.”
