Starz poaches HBO veteran Dave Baldwin

Starz has hired Dave Baldwin as executive VP, programming. He joins the Liberty-owned US cable network business from HBO where he worked for over thirty years.

Baldwin will replace Stephan Shelanski, who is leaving Starz at the end of the year.

Based in New York, Baldwin will oversee all programming planning and research activity around Starz’ 17 linear channels and on-demand and online services.

He will report directly to Starz CEO Chris Albrecht and the pair worked together during Albrecht’s tenure at HBO.

“I am very pleased to bring my long-time colleague, Dave Baldwin, onto the Starz executive bench,” said Albrecht.   “Dave has an incredible amount of experience and a proven track record in program planning and research. Dave’s stewardship will ensure a quick and seamless transition of programming operations.”
