Malaysia’s online service Maxman acquires international series

Malaysian online video service Maxman has struck a raft of programming deals with international distributors incliuding ITV Studios, Red Arrow and Content Television following its recent launch.

The male-skewing digital video platform launched in September 2012 as a free, ad-supported service. It was set up by media company IZI Media Group and is the first such service in Malaysia.

It has acquired titles including ITV Studios-distributed dramas The Prisoner and The Take, Red Arrow International’s Norwegian crime drama Lilyhammer, DRG’s youth drama Top Boy and doc series Vanguard, Tricon’s Michael Tuesdays and Thursdays, Beta Film’s Borgia and EFC and BAMMA fighting events from Content Media.

“We’re pleased to be working with these prominent distributors, as the variety of titles we’re getting from them is unsurpassed,” said IZI Media group chief executive officer Ahmad Izmir. “Our distributor partners come from around the world, so we have access to a remarkable variety of shows. We are not restricted to programmes from traditional producers like the USA or UK – expect to see Ukrainian mini-series on Maxman, for instance.”
