The CW picks up Vurugu’s digital series Prom Queen
US broadcast network The CW has acquired exclusive rights to the latest season of Vuguru’s digital scripted series Prom Queen.
The youth skewing broadcaster’s digital studio has picked up Prom Queen: Homecoming and will launch it on cwtv.com.
The series, which is produced by Big Fantastic and developed and financed by Michael Eisner’s Vuguru, has been a huge hit online, both in the United States and internationally. The first three series including Prom Queen and Prom Queen: Summer Heat, have notched up over 40 million views online and it has also been picked up by broadcasters including Canada’s Rogers Media.
The new season is the final chapter in the franchise and comes after the prom queen has been murdered and a new mystery unravels.
The deal was struck by Rick Haskins, executive vice president, marketing and digital programmes, The CW.
