A League of Their Own to be remade in Australia, Italy
British pay broadcaster Sky’s sports format A League of Their Own is to be remade in Australia, New Zealand and Italy after distributor Red Arrow International closed a number of format deals.
Freehand Productions, the Australian production company owned in part by BBC Worldwide, has optioned the format rights in Australia and New Zealand.
Separately, Red Arrow has struck a deal with an as-yet-unnamed company in Italy.
The entertainment series, which airs on Sky 1 in the UK, is produced by CPL Productions and is currently in its sixth season with seasons seven and eight already ordered.
Henrik Pabst, director, international format acquisition says: “This format is amazing. New commissions by Sky1 and now two sales before we even present A League of Their Own at MIPCOM.”
