Lifetime launches Liz & Dick in November
US cable network Lifetime is to launch Lindsay Lohan’s Liz & Dick at the end of November. This comes after A+E Networks will start shopping the controversial television movie at MIPCOM.
The one-off TV feature will launch on November 25. It is produced by Larry A. Thompson Productions, the company behind numerous TV movies including Amish Grace. It was directed by Lloyd Kramer (Mitch Albom’s The Five People You Meet in Heaven) with a script by Christopher Monger (Temple Grandin).
Liz & Dick, which stars Grant Bowler (True Blood) alongside Lohan, tells the on screen and off screen story of the relationship between Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.
Lifetime will also launch the movie in Canada on its eponymous channel.
“Larry Thompson has a huge heritage and history of doing wonderful TV movies, Amish Grace was one of the all-time best-performing Lifetime movies,” says Christian Murphy, senior VP, international programming and marketing at A+E Networks. “He pitched it to us and it tells one of the greatest ever love stories. Lindsay Lohan will bring in a whole generation that might not have watched this normally.”
