AMC orders reality series Road Show
US cable network AMC has ordered unscripted competition series Road Show, further ramping up the channel’s slate of reality programming.
AMC, which is known for hit dramas Mad Men and Breaking Bad, has also renewed Small Town Security (pictured) for a second season.
Road Show, which is produced by Storyvision Entertainment and executive produced by Cheerleader Nation’s Laurie Girion, is an 8x1hour series that centres around small town talent shows. The series and format is distributed internationally Sony Pictures Television.
Meanwhile, Small Town Security, which originally launched in July 2012, has been ordered for a second season. The show, which is produced by Mob Wives and This American Life producer Left/Right Films, follows the team of a small family run security firm JJK Security.
Both shows will launch in the second quarter of 2013.
The shows were commissioned by Joel Stillerman, AMC’s EVP, original programming, production and digital content, Mary Conlon, VP, non scripted original programming, Jason Fisher, SVP, production and Ton Colon, VP, production.
“Small Town Security was such a great ride for us in season one, and we are thrilled to be able to continue that into a second season. We have only just begun to get to know the folks at JJK Security, and there are incredibly funny and wonderful stories left to tell. Road Show is a doc style talent competition series that celebrates the stories of the people who ever sang into their hairbrush, or lost sleep over their premiere in a community theater production. It’s the local talent show writ large, and will focus on the personal stories as much as the actual talent competition,” said Stillerman.
