TBI Exclusive: Former Sony boss Michael Grindon joins MRC
Former Sony boss Michael Grindon has reemerged at US production company Media Rights Capital, TBI understands.
Grindon was previously president, Sony Pictures Television and left the Hollywood studio in March 2010 after it combined what was called Sony Pictures Television International and Sony Pictures Television.
He is now working with Media Rights Capital, the production company behind Netflix’s forthcoming David Fincher-directed political drama House of Cards, as a television consultant and will represent the company at MIPCOM in Cannes next month.
Media Rights Capital confirmed the move.
Media Rights Capital is once again ramping up its television business following its failed attempt to programme US network The CW with series including Easy Money, Valentine, In Harm’s Way and Surviving Suburbia.
As well as producing the Kevin Spacey-series House of Cards, which is distributed by Grindon’s former employer, MRC is working with Crash director David Cronenberg to adapt Wendy Moore’s novel Knifeman, which marks his first entry into television.
The company is also working with The X-Files creator Chris Carter on a new mystery drama and is adapting its Matt Damon-fronted feature film The Adjustment Bureau into a television series for Syfy.
