HBO orders fourth, final season of Treme

US premium broadcaster HBO is to give David Simon’s New Orleans drama Treme one final, abbreviated, season.

The Time Warner-owned premium network will give Simon a fourth season, albeit shorter than its previous three seasons, which aired ten episodes each.

“We are going to be back for a season 3.5. HBO, upon viewing the ten [episodes from season three] that we gave them and what we’ve done, they want to see the end of the story. They fought very hard to give us half a loaf. We’re going to take it and run,” said creator David Simon, according to nola.com.

Treme, which was co-created with Simon’s The Wire colleague Eric Overmyer, launched in April 2010. It is set in a New Orleans neighbourhood three months after Hurricane Katrina.
