Fox Turkey preps local version of Disney’s Private Practice
Fox’s free-to-air channel in Turkey is about to launch a local version of Disney’s hit medical drama Private Practice.
The local version of the show, Merheba Hayat, has been made by local production company Medyapim and Disney. It was filmed in Istanbul and storylines will closely follow those of the ABC Studios-produced US series, which is in its sixth season on US broadcast network ABC.
The 23-episode first season of Merheba Hayat will debut on Fox on October 2.
The show is a spin-off of another medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, another Disney-distributed show that has been remade in Turkey as well as in Colombia.
Sinan Ceylan, country manager, The Walt Disney Company Turkey, Greece and Cyprus said: “We are committed to the Turkish market and are proud to be producing Merhaba Hayat with Medyapim. This follows the recent success of the local version of Desperate Housewives (Umutsuz Ev Kadinlari), which is now in its second season, and a hit local version of Grey’s Anatomy (Doktorlar), which launched in Turkey in 2006.”
Fatih Aksoy, producer, Medyapim Televizyon ve Filmcilik A.Ş. said: “Having successfully adapted Grey’s Anatomy, Medyapim is honoured to be able to present Private Practice, a spinoff of Grey’s Anatomy, to our Turkish audience. Merhaba Hayat will be a uniquely Turkish take on the emotional drama and strong characterisation of Private Practice.”
