Horror net Chiller launches four original projects
US cable network Chiller is launching four new projects as it increases the amount of original programming it produces.
The NBC Universal-owned horror channel is launching its first ever anthology film, an original movie, and two new installments in the Chiller 13 franchise.
It has ordered The Monkey’s Paw, a thriller based around a mystical monkey’s paw that grants wishes but soon leads to murder. It stars Harper’s Island’s CJ Thomason, Avatar’s Stephen Lang and High School Musical’s Corbin Bleu. The movie is adapted from a short story by W.W Jacobs and is produced by TMP Films.
The network has also commissioned two original specials; Chiller 13: Horror’s Most Wanted and Chiller 13: Most Horrifying Hook-Ups. Both countdown shows are produced by Associated Television International.
Finally, it has greenlit Chilling Visions: 5 Senses of Fear, an anthology film that sees Chiller team up with six new filmmakers to write and direct short films based on the human senses. The movies including Hearing by YellowBrickRoad’s Jesse Holland and Andy Mitton, Touch by My Sucky Teen Romance’s Emily Hagins, Taste by Roadside’s Eric England, Smell by 2012 Doomsday’s Nick Everhart and Sight by Miko Hughes, who starred in Pet Semetary. Chilling Visions: 5 Senses of Fear is produced by Synthetic Cinema International.
