Nat Geo Wild launches Jack Osbourne’s Alpha Dogs
US cable network Nat Geo Wild has commissioned 16-part series Alpha Dogs exec produced by Jack Osbourne.
The wildlife broadcaster will launch the series looking at the training of a special elite force of canines dedicated to protecting the United States.
The 16x30mins series will be produced by Schweet Entertainment and will be exec produced by Osbourne, son of Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne.
The Alpha Dogs have jumped out of helicopters to help capture Osama Bin Laden and were involved in tracking Saddam Hussein.
“Alpha Dogs will focus on these highly trained dog heroes that have muscle and smarts,” says Geoff Daniels, executive vice president and general manager, Nat Geo Wild. “Our viewers will love to see the incredible drills and exercises the dogs undergo, follow the instruction process with their dedicated trainers who carry top security clearances, see the application in the field for military and police units, and even watch the fun they have playing fetch on their days off.”
Osbourne added: “We are excited to partner with Nat Geo Wild on this project and show everything from examining how the dogs are trained to detect drugs, weapons and improvised explosive devices to finding a hidden cell phone in a prison cell, to focusing on other real-world situations in everyday communities.”
