ProSiebenSat.1 acquires crime drama Jo
German broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 has picked up European cop drama Jo and a global pay TV deal is expected to be announced soon.
ProSiebenSat.1 acquired the German rights from its sister sales arm Red Arrow International. The series, which is produced by Atlantique Productions, has already been picked up by French commercial broadcaster TF1.
The series stars Jean Reno as Jo St-Clair, a veteran French detective tackling the city’s most challenging murder cases that takes place in iconic Parisian locations including the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame and the Catacombs. It is written by veteran Law & Order writer Rene Balcer and directed by Kristoffer Nyholm, director of Danish crime drama Forbrydelsen.
Jens Richter, managing director of Red Arrow International, told TBI that it has already struck a deal in Italy and is set to close a global pay TV deal soon. “It’s a classic procedural crime story. It’s the idea of getting Jean Reno into TV.”
