Science acquires Zig Zag’s Scam City
US cable network Science has acquired factual series Scam City after striking a deal with British independent producer Zig Zag.
The Discovery-owned broadcaster will air the ten part series in late 2013.
Scam City is a coproduction between Zig Zag and Canadian producer Handel Productions for National Geographic International and Canadian network Travel and Escape. It is a travel show that exposes the darker side of tourism and highlight the scammers and con men in ten of the world’s most popular cities.
The deal was brokered by Leila Monks, VP, commercial and current production, Zig Zag.
Monks told TBI: “With the right project it makes sense to do some of these international deals ourselves.”
“Scam City is a perfect fit for Science; it’s smart, lean-forward entertainment that provokes its viewers to think. Our viewers possess both a passion for adventure and for information and this series caters to both beautifully,” added Debbie Adler Myers, general manager and executive vice president of Science.
