Exclusive: Shine poaches BBC Worldwide’s Georgia Brown

Shine International has poached BBC Worldwide’s Georgia Brown to become its new director of acquisitions, TBI understands.

Brown will be in charge of all of Shine International’s acquisitions outside of North America and will report to Camilla Hammer, who joined the company as chief executive last year.

Brown was previously commercial manager, indie drama at BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the British public broadcaster. She worked with over 120 independent producers in the UK and internationally to manage rights acquisitions and early investment. She worked on BBC Worldwide-distributed programming including Sherlock, Misfits, Primeval and Mad Dogs.

Acquisitions executive Jimmy Humphrey and acquisitions coordinator Rebecca Dundon will report to Brown in her new role.

The move follows the departure of Noel Hedges, who was senior vice president, acquisitions and left to join Cineflix Rights in July.
