24’s Kronish comes on board US Braquo remake
24’s Stephen Kronish is to write the US remake of French crime drama Braquo as US production company Asylum Entertainment starts to pitch it to US cable networks.
This comes after Zodiak Rights struck a deal with The Kennedys producer Asylum for the North American remake rights.
Kronish was an executive producer of Fox’s long-running hit action drama, working on close to 100 episodes of the Keifer Sutherland-fronted series, and was also an executive producer of controversial mini-series The Kennedys.
Braquo, which was created by Olivier Marchal and French production company Capa for premium French network Canal Plus, will start its third season in France in 2013. The crime drama follows a group of French police officers at the very edge of the law.
The first script for the US remake has just been handed in by Kronish and Asylum will start approaching cable networks in the coming weeks.
