Twofour launches int’l distribution arm
British independent producer Twofour is launching an international distribution arm and has hired former Zodiak exec Anthony Appell as head of sales.
The company, which produces series including BBC One’s Britain’s Biggest Hoarders and ITV2’s The Exclusives, will launch a slate of factual and factual entertainment series at MIPCOM.
This comes after the company recently opened an office in Los Angeles.
Twofour Rights will be run by Twofour commercial director Anthony Hughes, while Appell will lead a team of eight sales executives.
It has taken international rights to series including BBC Two’s Alex Polizzi: The Fixer, Channel 5’s Born To Kill, Sky’s The Angel as well as Britain’s Biggest Hoarders and The Exclusives.
Charles Wace, group chief executive, said: “It’s the right time for us to take distribution in house as we build the Twofour brand around the world. We have strategically retained the rights to the vast bulk of our shows over the last eighteen months so our catalogue can have real depth and impact on launch.”
