Warner Bros strikes The Bachelor deals
Dating format The Bachelor is set to be remade in a raft of new territories including France and Chile after Warner Bros struck format deals.
Warner Bros International Television Production has closed four new format deals bringing the total number of territories remaking the show to 10.
French broadcaster TMC will launch eight episodes in the fall; SBS’ Net5 is to produce a 9-episode season at the end of the year in the Netherlands; Swiss network 3 Plus will launch a version later this year, while Chile’s TVN will also launch a Spanish-language version this year.
This comes after the formats arm of the Hollywood studio closed deals in the UK, where Channel Five began airing a version earlier this month, and in Germany, where RTL will launch a second season in 2013.
The series was created by Mike Fleiss and produced by Next Entertainment and Warner Horizon for US network ABC. It is currently going into its 17th season.
Andrew Zein, senior VP, creative, format development and sales, WBITVP, said: “The Bachelor is such a hugely successful international show because, at its heart, it is a real-life fairytale of romance and love. Beautiful and entertaining – it is television for anyone in love or looking for love.”
