Former Disney exec Lightcap joins Discovery

Former Disney Channels Worldwide president Carolina Lightcap has joined factual broadcaster Discovery as head of content for its Latin American arm.

This comes ten months after she left the Mouse House, where she was in charge of its kids channels since 2009.

Lightcap becomes head of content for Discovery Latin America and US Hispanic and general manager for the Southern Cone. She will join the company in August and will report to Enrique Martinez, president and managing director for Discovery Latin America and US Hispanic.

She will be in charge of the company’s programming strategy across its bouquet of channels and will also be responsible for overseeing Discovery’s businesses in Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Bolivia and Paraguay.

Before becoming president, Disney Channels Worldwide, she was chief marketing officer for The Walt Disney Company, Latin America and prior to joining Disney she worked at Sky Latin America and Fox Latin American Channels.
