Fuse and SevenOne making Harry Bosch crime series
The producer of the US version of The Killing and Germany’s SevenOne are coproducing a series based on the Michael Connelly series of Harry Bosch books, about the eponymous LAPD detective. Eric Overmyer (The Wire, Treme) will be the showrunner on the coproduction.
The Bosch books have sold in their millions and are Connelly’s best known titles alongside his Lincoln Lawyer novels, which were captured on the big screen in the Matthew McConaughey movie.
Connelly said: “There is so much Bosch material available that I’ve felt for a long time that the best way to maintain the integrity of the character would be to take him to television where some of the best character stuff is being done right now. I love The Killing and I think teaming with Fuse and a writer of the quality and accomplishment of Eric is a fantastic combination.”
Fuse produces Burn Notice and the US version of Scandi-originated crime drama The Killing. Red Arrow, the acquisitive content arm of German broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1, acquired a majority stake in the producer last year.
Henrik Bastin, CEO of Fuse says: “I have been obsessed with the Bosch books for years. It is, in my mind, the ultimate cop and crime property. SevenOne International has a fantastic track record in putting together deals like this and we are delighted to have them as our partners for this project. They bring a lot of expertise and financial solutions to the table.”
