Lovefilm strikes NBCU deal
British online streaming service Lovefilm has struck a deal with NBC Universal International Television Distribution that gives viewers access to films during the second pay window.
The multi-year agreement increases the competition between Amazon-owned Lovefilm and Netflix, which launched in the UK and Ireland at the start of the year.
The deal is Lovefilm’s latest studio streaming deal after signing deals with Warner Bros, Sony Pictures, Disney as well as Entertainment One and Studiocanal.
Movies including Kick Ass, Despicable Me, American Reunion, Battleship and Senna will be available for Lovefilm Instant customers at £4.99.
Jim Buckle, MD of LOVEFiLM, said: “Lovefilm is proud to offer its members access to the highest quality content across multiple platforms from another of the world’s most respected studios. NBCUniversal is also Lovefilm’s latest exclusive streaming deal in our quest to deliver the widest choice of content on as many platforms as possible.”
