US Cable Upfronts 2012: Syfy

US cable network Syfy has unveiled nearly 30 new original series including a TV version of The Adjustment Bureau and new shows from Mark Burnett and Sally Ann Salsano as part of its annual upfronts event.

The NBC Universal-owned broadcaster has announced twelve scripted orders and 17 non-scripted series at the event, which was held at the American History Museum.

Scripted series include Universal Cable Productions’ Defiance, which is being produced at the same time as a multi-platform shoot ’em up videogame, The Adjustment Bureau, based on the Matt Damon movie, Granat Entertainment’s High Moon, based on John Christopher’s novel The Lotus Caves and exec produced by Bryan Fuller, BermanBraun’s homeland security drama Rewind, Grave Sight, based on the novel by True Blood author Charlaine Harris, Fox Television Studios’ Seeing Things, based on the Grey Legion comic book, Defender, from Alphas‘ Robert Hewitt Wolfe, Sony Pictures TV’s alien thriller The Family, Eyes of The Dragon, based on the Stephen King novel and a series based on the DC Entertainment comic Booster Gold.

Defiance has been ordered to full season, while the others are currently in development.

Non-scripted series include Smart Dog Media’s The Genie, Stranger Than Fiction and Superhumans, which are both produced by BASE Productions, The Gurin Company’s Master Control, Jarrett Creative Group’s Toy Traveler and The Wrights, Karga 7’s Limitless, Skip Film’s Divas of Dress Up, a fan girl and fan boy project from Jersey Shore producer SallyAnn Salsano’s 495 Productions, Cream Productions’ Ghost Town USA, NorthSouth’s Deadfinder, Zodiak USA’s Buyer Beware, Zig Zag Productions’ Exit, based on a Japanese format, Idiot Box Productions’s Awesome Foundation, Ping Pong Productions’ Stranded, a series produced by Mission Control Media following mind reader Chris Cox and a competition series produced by Mark Burnett Productions.
