The Walking Dead producer Valhalla strikes NBCU deal
Valhalla Entertainment, the production company behind The Walking Dead, has struck an overall deal with Universal Cable Productions.
The deal will see the company, run by Gale Anne Hurd, who has also produced features including Terminator 2: Judgement Day and Aliens, produce series for NBC Universal-owned cable networks including USA and Syfy as well as other cable channels and broadcast networks.
Hurd and her team, which includes Beatrice Springborn and Kris Henigman will work with Universal Cable Productions senior VPs Richard Rothstein, Chris Sanagustin and Maira Suro.
“Gale’s vision, expertise and superb taste make her and the Valhalla team a trifecta win for UCP,” they said in a joint statement. “We are ecstatic that Valhalla is joining our studio and bolstering our efforts to expand our development — they share our creative commitment, passion for great stories and desire to produce efficiently. We’re confident that this is a collaboration that will be beneficial on multiple fronts.”
Valhalla Entertainment has most recently been working with FX on pirate drama Port Royal, that it is coproducing with GK-tv and Fox International Channels as well as television movies including Lifetime’s Close Quarters.
