Shine inks deal for Chinese MasterChef

Shine has cut a deal for a Chinese version of its hit cooking format MasterChef. The Chinese version will be produced by Chinese media group SMG and air on SMG-owned channel Dragon TV.

The local version will run to twelve, ninety-minute episodes and will air later this year.

“We are very proud to be bringing MasterChef to China with SMG,” said Mark Fennessy, president, Shine Network. “The SMG team are passionate about all things MasterChef, and we look forward to working together with them on this and hopefully further Shine Group formats in the future.”

Shine will provide its production expertise on a consultancy basis to SMG for the Chinese version of the show.

Several formatted versions have already aired around the world on broadcasters including India’s Star, the Netherlands’ SBS, Israel’s Keshet and Ukraine’s STB and France’s TF1.
