Warner Bros shopping ER format
Warner Bros is looking to secure international versions of its smash hit hospital drama ER when it launches it as a format for the first time at MIPTV.
The drama, which was created by Jurassic Park’s Michael Crichton and produced by The West Wing’s John Wells and Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television, is being offer to global broadcasters as a format in Cannes.
The series, which took place in a hospital and starred actors including George Clooney, Julianna Margulies and Noah Wyle, ran for 331 episodes on NBC between 1994 and 2009. It was also sold to over 50 countries.
“ER is one of the most successful, long-running, highly rated and recognizable television programmes ever created and remains in syndication around the world, so we are confident that a wide variety of territories will want to produce their own local version of the show,” says Andrew Zein, senior VP, creative format development and sales, Warner Bros. International Television Production.
