eOne launching sci-fi series with Steven Bochco
NYPD Blue creator Steven Bochco has unveiled his latest television project – sci-fi drama Evolution – after striking a deal with Entertainment One (eOne).
This is Bochco’s first project since TNT legal drama Raising the Bar, which launched in 2008.
Bocho, who also exec produced Hill Street Blues, L.A Law and Murder One, is developing Evolution as a straight-to-series order and eOne will be shopping it to international broadcasters later this week at MIPTV in Cannes.
The series is set three million years in the future and follows a young boy who becomes the leader of his tribe after discovering a box of secrets to the whole of human knowledge.
Evolution will be produced by eOne in association with Steven Bochco Productions and will be exec produced by Bochco, eOne John Morayniss and Michael Rosenberg and supervising producer Bryan Law.
This comes as the company announced that it would continue to look for acquisition opportunities following a successful year, particularly from its TV slate.
“The company continues to assess acquisition opportunities to accelerate the group’s strategy and expand its content ownership and international reach in film and television,” it noted in a pre-close trading update.
