Everything’s A Race for Warner Bros
Who would win in a (mathematical) race: a math whiz kid, a bodybuilder, a female pop singer, a 66-year-old CEO or a middle-aged mom? Warner Bros hopes to find out with Everything’s A Race, the first format to come out of its recent partnership with Japanese broadcaster TV Asahi.
The Hollywood studio will remake the entertainment format; in the United States it will be adapted by Warner Horizon and Next Entertainment, while Warner Bros International Television Production will distribute the format in Europe and Latin America.
“What’s great about Everything’s A Race is that almost anything can be made into a race, and the handicaps are limited only by the imagination,” said Andrew Zein, SVP, creative, format development and sales, WBITVP. “The format is simple, engaging and hilarious; a highly flexible format which we think can travel into many territories.”
This comes weeks after the two companies struck a deal to develop, coproduce and distribute a raft of new formats to the international market.
The agreement means that Warner Bros International Television Production will remake at least one Asahi format as an English-language pilot and the Hollywood studio will distribute this in the US, Europe and Latin America, while TV Asahi will distribute across Asia.
