Sony sells Plain Jane reality format to Brazil, Canada, Ukraine
Sony Pictures Television has sold its reality makeover format Plain Jane to broadcasters in Brazil, Canada and Ukraine, TBI understands. MTV has also ordered another season of the show for its international networks.
The show hails from SPT and SPT-backed UK producer Gogglebox Entertainment will make the international version that MTV will run on its channels outside the US. In the US, the show runs on broadcast network The CW.
In Brazil, free-to-air channel SBT has ordered another eleven episodes of the local version of the show, adding to the previous 26. In Ukraine, TKR has also ordered another season, having debuted the series last year.
Female-skewed Canadian cable net Mademoiselle has ordered a second season of the format and will run at least eight more episodes.
The show features a ‘plain Jane’ who has an unrequited crush on her dream date. A Fairy Godmother duly transforms the plain Jane into a princess and sets her up with her potential Mr Right.
