Spain’s Film Factory picks up Code 60
Film Factory Entertainment, the distributor behind Sopranos-esque Spanish series Crematorium, is heading to MIP with another dark drama.
The company has acquired the international rights to Codigo 60 (Code 60), which is produced by Oberon Cinematografica for Televisio De Catalunya.
The cop drama follows a young police officer who is keen to move out of the robbery division and joins the hunt for a serial killer with a predilection for murdering old women. The series is based on the real life case of the Old Lady Killer in Barcelona.
The series was written by Oriol Paulo whose credits include El Cuerpo (The Body) and Los Ojos De Julia (Julia’s Eyes) and directed by Hole’s C. Martin Ferrera.
Vicente Canales, founder of Film Factory Entertainment, says: “Code 60 is a TV movie with film quality, not only is the story real and thrilling but the crew is also top class.”
Code 60 follows the success of Crematorium, which was distributed by Film Factory and produced by Mod Producciones for Canal+ Spain. The mob drama was subsequently sold to a raft of international broadcasters including HBO (Latin America) and Turner (Scandinavia).
