Shine folds US interests into Shine Americas
Shine USA and Reveille have been folded into a single unit, Shine Americas. The US divisions of production and distribution group Shine previously operated under distinct brands. The company said the new structure will add clarity to its offering in the US.
“This feels like a new chapter for Shine in the United States,” said Elisabeth Murdoch, Shine Group CEO and Chairman. “As Shine Group has evolved, so have the team and businesses in the U.S. and to bring it under the new banner of Shine America reflects the new dynamism within the business and the ambitions shared with colleagues across the group.”
There have been numerous high-level comings and goings at Shine’s US operations.
Reveille is the production company founded by Ben Silverman in 2002 and acquired by Shine in 2008.Co-managing director Mark Koops left the US producer as part of a subsequent restructure instigated by Emiliano Calemzuk. Koops was survived by co-managing director Howard Owens, but he also left the company when, last year, he became president, National Geographic Channels US.
Emiliano Calemzuk, meanwhile, announced his departure as CEO of Shine Americas earlier this year. At the time, Shine said he would not be replaced and his Shine Americas team will report to Carl Fennessy, the Australian executive who is CEO Shine Group, USA.
Speaking about the new US branding, Fennessy said: “Combining the talented team at Shine America, with such a powerhouse in Shine Group, affords us the unique opportunity to create and produce exceptional programming for US entertainment while simultaneously reaching a global marketplace.”
