Sony buys Daisy Goodwin’s prodco Silver River
Sony Pictures Television (SPT) has acquired a majority stake in UK indie producer Silver River. The deal follows Andrea Wong joining SPT as president of international production at Sony Pictures Television and president, international, at Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Silver River, which is based in London and run by Daisy Goodwin, has made fact-ent series including Supersizers and Grow Your Own Drugs and its current slate includes Antiques Uncovered, Off by Heart Shakespeare and Restoration Women.
SPT will distribute Silver River finished shows and formats and will launch shows including Elizabeth Taylor – The Queen of Diamonds and Say No to the Knife at MIPTV.
Daisy Goodwin will continue to run Silver River.
She said: “Sony has a really alluring mix of great shows and real ambition. I know that working with Andrea and her team we will be bringing Silver River’s distinctive blend of originality and entertainment to the widest possible audience, and I am looking forward to bringing their best properties to the UK market.”

Sony is expected to buy more production companies. In the UK it has previously acquired Gogglebox Entertainment and Victory Television.
