#19: Nashville (ABC)

#19: Nashville (ABC)
Mad Men producer Lionsgate is continuing to try and break into the network landscape and country music themed drama Nashville is its latest attempt.
Lionsgate has produced network series in the past with shows including The CW’s Hidden Palms and Fox’s Running Wilde, but has yet to have a breakout network hit. The company hopes that Nashville will change this, so much so that it has inked an overall first look TV deal with its exec producer RJ Cutler (The War Room, The September Issue).
Nashville, which was written by Thelma and Louise scribe Callie Khouri, tells the story of a washed up country star who is teamed with a hot young starlet, played by Heroes‘ Hayden Panettiere, to save her career. It is produced by Lionsgate, Gaylord Entertainment and ABC Studios for ABC.
Chances: Good; Glee-meets-Urban Cowboys could play well in heartland America.
