Germany’s SevenOne sells The Last Cop into France
German distributor SeveonOne International has sold its drama series The Last Cop to Direct 8, the French free-to-air channel that Canal+ is buying from Bolloré Média.
The digital terrestrial channel will launch the series next Monday, stripping it in a weekday 5.40pm slot. It will be known locally as Mick Brisgau.
The time-travelling cop series follows Mick Brisgau who emerges from a 17-year coma in modern day Germany. The series has been popular on free-to-air channel Sat.1 in Germany with a 19.6% share in its target demographic.
Aline Avedikian, SeveonOne’s regional sales manager France said: “The Last Cop is one of Germany´s most successful crime series. Women love him, bad guys fear him: Mick is a classic old-school cop from the 80s who is torpedoed into modern times.”
“It has proven to be a great success in Germany and we believe that Mick Brisgau´s great personality will fascinate the French audience”, says Yann Le Prado, director of acquisitions at Direct 8.
