BBC inks programming deal with Hulu
Hulu Japan has struck a volume deal with BBC Worldwide, the international arm of the British public broadcaster.
The deal will see the online video service air series including Doctor Who, Spooks, Little Britain, Walking with Dinosaurs, Top Gear and Life.
Hulu Japan will also premiere Polar Bear – Spy on the Ice and the 20th anniversary specials of Absolutely Fabulous.
Hulu launched in Japan in September 2011, marking the first international expansion for the service outside of the US.
“Our goal is to bring Japanese entertainment fans unlimited streaming access to the world’s premium content whenever and wherever they want to watch. The BBC is home to some of the most premium content on the planet, and we are thrilled to make these programmes available to Hulu subscribers,” said Kazufumi Nagasawa, head of content acquisition for Hulu in Japan.
