Israel’s Reshet to produce local version of DCD’s Penn & Teller format
Magicians Penn & Teller are heading to Israel after DCD Rights struck a deal with Israel’s Reshet to produce a local version of their Fool Us format.
Penn & Teller: Fool Us was originally produced by September Films in the UK for commercial broadcaster ITV. The nine-part series sees the pair try and guess how a number of local comedians try and pull off a specific trick and those magicians that trick Penn & Teller are flown to the States to perform the trick in Las Vegas.
Distributor DCD Rights is selling the finished tape and the format.
It has struck a deal with Israeli broadcaster and producer Reshet to produce a local version.
This comes a few months after the company inked a deal to produce a local version in Ukraine with broadcaster STB.
However, Nicky Davies Williams, CEO of DCD Rights, told TBI that Penn & Teller themselves may not appear in the Israeli version of the show, with the local broadcaster instead choosing to line-up their own hosts.
