Discovery has ordered a pan-regional series about elite police officers, Ultimate Cops.
The show will debut across 105 territories in the Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa region this April.
The show is made by Atom Productions International and was commissioned by Paul Welling, senior VP and head of channels for Discovery Networks CEEMEA. It follows police officers in tactical units in Bucharest, Moscow and Warsaw as they pursue and apprehend criminals.
Multiple camera crews have been stationed in Moscow, Bucharest and Warsaw, filming inside real crime missions as they unfold. Intercutting footage between cities, individual stories are then relayed through the eyes of the officers themselves.
“Not only is Ultimate Cops our first commission for Discovery Networks CEEMEA, it’s also the first series of its kind for this region of the world,” said Welling. “Tough men and women taking on the challenges of daily police work and keeping the crime out of our homes is an exciting story, especially when you add in the context of former Soviet Union cities, that continue to evolve month by month.”
“We went where no other camera crew has been before, inside the real lives of these truly ultimate cops. For instance, in Moscow, we were the first cameras to set foot inside these formally secretive units,” said Allen Scheid, executive producer for Atom Productions International.
