Australia’s Quail TV hires Jay Kandola
Australian production company Quail Television has hired former ITV acquisition boss Jay Kandola as European manager as it looks to expand internationally.
The company, which is best known for producing controversial spoof political comedy At Home With Julia, has hired Kandola on a consultancy basis. She will be responsible for taking Quail’s library of series and formats to the international market.
Since January 2011, Kandola has been working with Australian pay broadcaster Foxtel as its acquisitions and coproductions consultant, looking for British format to remake locally.
Quail Television founder and executive producer Greg Quail told TBI last year that it was looking to boost its global formats business and particularly hoped to secure format deals for At Home With Julia.
“Jay’s appointment is a firm signal of our intention to make a ‘step change’ in our plans for growth in the UK and Europe. We’re ready to take our business to the next level and Jay’s wealth of expert knowledge, business acumen and editorial experience make her the ideal person to lead this charge. Indeed, even at this early stage, this new relationship is already bearing fruit,” he said.
