Sky launches new 3D series
UK pay broadcaster Sky is launching a new 3D project with David Attenborough following the success of Flying Monsters 3D.
The News Corp-backed network is launching Galapagos 3D, which is the first series to be produced by Colossus Productions, the joint venture company set up by Sky and Atlantic Productions to produce 3D content.
This marks Attenborough’s fourth 3D project with Sky and follows 3D projects including Flying Monsters 3D, The Bachelor King 3D and Kingdom of Plants 3D, a series based in London’s Kew Gardens that will air next year.
Galapagos 3D is a three-part series that tells the story of the remote islands and it will air in late 2012.
John Cassy, director, Sky 3D, said: “The Galapagos is one of Earth’s greatest treasures but it is unreachable for the vast majority of us. 3D will bring the islands to life for our customers in a way that has never been possible before. Sir David and Atlantic Productions are the natural partners to take on this ambitious project on – and ensure our natural history programming continues to break new ground.”
