TLC orders embarrassing bodies format
TLC International has commissioned My Naked Secret, following individuals with embarrassing body secrets and from Maverick TV, the producers of UK format Embarrassing Bodies.
The twelve-part series will bow on the Polish TLC channel before rolling out on the other global TLCs and Discovery lifestyle nets.
The female-skewed channel has been keen to commission a slate of series since launching internationally last year. It is now in 30 international territories.
“TLC aims to combine the unique stories of extraordinary, real life characters with raw and compelling storytelling,” said Luis Silberwasser, chief content officer, Discovery Networks International. “We’ve struck that balance with My Naked Secret, profiling the relatable journeys and struggles of people facing the emotional complexities that come with physical abnormalities.”
The 30-minute show, described as part-ob-doc and part transformational programme, is fronted by British psychotherapist Anjula Mutanda who helps various individuals confront their embarrassing problems and plan for the future. As well as receiving counselling from Mutanda, participants are introduced to medical professionals who can help them with the relevant surgery or procedures to address their physical problem.
