Endemol launches US scripted unit

Formats specialist Endemol has launched a US scripted programming unit, Endemol Studios.

It will be run by ex-Disney exec Philippe Maigret, who becomes CEO and Jeremy Gold as head of creative affairs.

Gold joined Endemol in 2008 and launched the company’s scripted development division.

Endemol said the new unit will focus on US cable and has the resources to deficit finance and fund development deals

“It is something of a wish fulfillment to build a new-generation TV studio business,” Maigret said. “Endemol Studios will draw on Endemol’s world leading creative resources in the US and around the world, as well as leveraging the Group’s global distribution platforms.”
