UK broadcaster Channel 4 buys Charlie’s Angels
UK free-to-air broadcaster Channel 4 has acquired the new Charlie’s Angels series. The update of the classic 1970s series will air on US broadcast net ABC from the autumn and Channel 4 will transmit it on its youth-skewed digital offshoot, E4.
The broadcaster has been actively buying US series this year having bought a five series package from Fox comprising Allen Gregory, Apartment 23, Homeland, Napoleon Dynamite and New Girl and, last week, 2 Broke Girls from Warner Bros.
Charlie’s Angels is produced by Millar/Gough Ink, Flower Films and Panda Productions, in association with Sony Pictures Television and is distributed by Sony.
Gill Hay, head of acquisitions for Channel 4 said: “Charlie’s Angels is a lighthearted, high kicking romp with all the glitz, glamour and beautiful crimefighters you would expect from a US remake of the iconic original.”
