Exclusive: AMC developing Thom Beers’ drama Man on Fire
US cable network AMC is developing a scripted drama created by Deadliest Catch producer Thom Beers, TBIvision can reveal.
The network is in development with Man on Fire, a drama about a group of smokejumpers.
It is one of the first scripted series to be produced by Beers, who is known for producing reality series, and follows an eight part factual series Into The Firestorm that Beers’ Original Productions produced for Discovery.
“I’m going back to scripted, I’ve run into a lot of interesting people and five years ago started picking up life rights,” Beers told TBIvision. “There’s Man of Fire that I am working with AMC on. It’s about a group who work on forest fires – that’s a really interesting world. It’s going to script now.”
Joel Stillerman, SVP, original programming, production and digital content, AMC, which airs series including Mad Men, The Walking Dead and recently finished the first season of a US version of Danish crime drama The Killing, confirmed to TBIvision: “Thom Beers is really interested in doing scripted drama. We’re just in development with that now.”
