Falling Skies lands on Sony nets as TNT orders season two

Sony has acquired the rights to Steven Spielberg produced sci-fi drama Falling Skies for its Asian channels. The news of new sales comes as US cable net TNT confirmed an order for a second season the series.

 

Sony Pictures Television’s Asian networks division has acquired the show from Turner and will debut it in the region on its AXN and AXN Beyond channels.

 

The series, which debuted with big numbers on Turner’s TNT channel in the US last month, will be transmitted on AXN in Taiwan, India and Korea and AXN Beyond across South East Asia. In all, Sony will show it across 15 networks in Asia.

 

Spielberg exec-produced the show, which is made by DreamWorks Television and TNT Productions, and is set on earth during the aftermath of an alien attack.

 

Germany’s TNT Serie, Canada’s Super Channel and Canal+ in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland have all already acquired the 10-episode series as well as FX in the UK. The show will also air across a number of TNT channels internationally including TNT Latin America and its sister channel Space.
