ABC strikes Angry Boys deals
ABC Commercial, the sales arm of the Australian public broadcaster, has inked a number of deals for Chris Lilley comedy Angry Boys.
The show, which launched on ABC1 in May to 1.4 million viewers, has been picked up by Australian pay TV operator Foxtel, which will air it on its Comedy Channel, and Comedy Central in New Zealand.
Both broadcasters have aired Lilley’s previous series including Summer Heights High and We Can Be Heroes.
The 12x30mins series, which follows identical twins Daniel and Nathan Sims and a number of their surfer and musician friends, is the first Australian series to be coproduced with premium US cable network HBO. It has also been sold to British public broadcaster the BBC, which is currently airing it on BBC Three.
