Int’l buyers go shopping with Turkey’s Global

Turkish distributor Global Agency has sold format Shopping Monsters to a raft of international producers and broadcasters including Greece’s Mega TV, Cineflix Productions and Nordisk.

The distributor has closed 11 deals since MIP TV, where it launched the format. The show, which is produced by Erdi Productions, is a shopping makeover format that sees five women compete to win the ultimate spending spree. It airs on Kanal D in Turkey.

Cineflix has picked up English-language rights across the UK, US, Canada and Australia; Nordisk has picked up the option in Sweden; Herve Hubert, who has produced shows including The Price Is Right with FremantleMedia, has bought rights in France and Mega TV has acquired the rights in Greece.

“Women are crazy for shopping and this format has all the elements to make it an international success,” says Global Agency CEO Izzet Pinto. “I think it will start in September or October.”
