French broadcasters buy The Kennedys
Europe Images International has sold controversial miniseries The Kennedys to several French broadcasters. Arte has acquired the series and will show it after its French debut on France 3.
The eight-part miniseries is produced by Muse Entertainment, which also handles distribution in most international territories.
Europe Images has the rights for French-speaking territories and has also shopped it to Swiss free-to-air broadcaster TSR and its Belgian counterpart RTBF.
The series was originally made for AETN’s US cable net History, but it decided not to air it.
Muse has, however, sold it around the world, to broadcasters including the BBC in the UK. In the US, cable channel Reelz stepped in and took the rights to the US$25 million show. It has also been sold into Australia, Italy, Spain, Norway, Sweden and Japan.
The eight-part series stars Greg Kinnear as JFK and Katie Holmes as Jackie Kennedy and is produced by 24 creator Joel Surnow.
