Content’s Thorne goes global
A raft of international broadcasters have acquired British detective drama Thorne after striking deals with distributor Content Television.
The company, formerly known as Fireworks International, has sold the series to more than 120 countries. It has inked deals with Denmark’s DR, Sweden’s TV4, Norway’s NRK, Finland’s YLE and a pan European agreement with Tele Munchen Gruppe that includes France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
The series, which stars State of Play’s David Morrissey and Californication’s Natascha McElnhone, has also been picked up by New Zealand pay broadcaster Prime, Japan’s Wowow, Daro across Central and Eastern Europe and a pan regional Latin American deal with AXN.
Thorne, which is produced by Stagereel, Cite-Amerique, 87 Films, Artists Studio, is an adaptation of the Mark Billingham novels and follows detective inspector Tom Thorne as he tries to track down a serial killer. It was originally produced for British pay broadcaster Sky1, Australian public broadcaster and Canada’s The Movie Network and Movie Central.
