Spike orders new reality series
US cable network Spike TV is launching two new reality series including a car format produced by Ben Silverman’s Electus.
The Viacom-owned male skewing broadcaster has commissioned Car Boss and tattoo competition series InkMasters, which is produced by Endemol USA’s Original Media.
Car Boss follows legendary second hand car salesman Tom Stuker as he helps auto dealerships around the world. It was created by Vem Miller’s Sweatshop Media and is the first series to be produced by Electus in association with formats producer 5x5Media, which it inked a partnership with last year.
InkMasters, meanwhile, is the country’s first ever national tattoo competition and pits a number of top tattoo artists against each other. It is produced by Original Media, a subsidiary of Endemol USA, which has produced series including Miami Ink, Storm Chasers and The Rachel Zoe Project. It is exec produced by Charlie Corwin.
Inkmasters will start production in May and launch in the summer, while Car Boss will begin production in the summer and air in 2012.
